Bellville Cricket Club would like to congratulate three of our First XI players for their inclusion into the 2021 edition of the CPL( Cape Premier league).
Our very own captain Marcus Fourie was included in the Devils Peak Dragons side. Top order batsmen, Schaughn van Greunen was selected for the Atlantic Pirates - playing alongside former Bellville boys Uwe Birkenstock, Niel Botha, Fritz de Beer as well as county cricket veteran Luke Stevens. Opening bowler, Evert Carstens was selected at Outlaws playing alongside Proteas , Wayne Parnell and Christiaan Jonker.
We would also like extend our congratulations to youngster Dewald Grove who will be playing for the Outlaws u/19 side.
The concept of the CPL is similar to the IPL with a draft , auction and players being bought with fictional currency. The goal of the tournament is to create opportunities for club cricketers to play against and with provincial and international players. The tournament is scheduled to begin on the 24th of September and to conclude the 10th of October.
We wish our fellow Bellville boys all the best in their preparation and the campaign. We hope they can bring back some valuable experience and form for the upcoming season and keeping the Bellville Cricket Club name high.
